Project Gambia UK Shop
In December 2016, the first Project Gambia Shop was set up in the Latrikunda area of The Gambia. Managed by Florence Bernard, the shop employs a local woman and sells good quality, second-hand clothes, shoes, bags etc. Items are sold at much more affordable prices in comparison to the local markets. Once wages and rent are paid, the profit is ploughed into the projects we run in The Gambia, and specifically targeted to those who are in urgent need of food, medical care, schooling etc.
The shop currently pays for the education of 10 children at Half Dye school. Without this funding these children would not be able to attend school.
Profits from the shop have also been used to help fund the building of the new classroom blocks at Madiana and Omega Schools, the School Feeding Programme and the Let’s See Red projects. Income from the shop will also be used to support other projects we will be developing in The Gambia.
You can help us get more children to school by donating any new or used adult, children and baby clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, towels and other household items.
Information about items we collect can be found in the ‘Support Us’ section.
